[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Seoul Research Institute of Public Health and Environment and the Korea Environment Institute (KEI) will begin research on how various chemicals of ultrafine dust (PM2.5) affect our health.

The organizations plan to establish a scientific basis for policy-making to minimize the health damage to citizens' health caused by ultrafine dust.

While previous research on fine dust reduction policy has been carried out around emission sources or contributions, the research will focus on ‘citizens' health’ and lead the establishment of related policies by analyzing what ingredients have a significant impact on mortality.

The Seoul Research Institute of Public Health and Environment will provide data on the measurement of ultrafine dust composition and the KEI will use the data to promote research on health effects based on ultrafine dust components.

In addition to cooperation in finding joint research projects, the two organizations plan to work together to solve environmental problems such as sharing research-related information data and sharing facilities, as well as co-hosting academic events such as seminars on research tasks and consulting on joint issues.
