[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries plans to crack down on illegal fishing activities on land, including harbors, docks and markets where fishing boats come in and out from May.

As a result of crackdown on illegal fishing conducted at sea, illegal fishing such as overfishing of young fish has existed and distribution of illegal fishing on the land continues to occur.

In order to prevent the distribution of illegally caught fish, the government plans to carry out nationwide publicity campaigns with civic groups and local governments.

The related laws will be revised this year to stop the distribution of illegal fishing products. The government also plans to strengthen administrative measures such as business suspension for illegal fishing actors, to designate the fishery species to be restored, and to designate the sales place of the fish species.
