Seoul requires to install fine dust filters for new buildings'서울 신축건물 '미세먼지 필터' 설치 의무화'

[The Hwankyung Ilbo] When new buildings are built, extended and remodeled in Seoul, mechanical ventilation system that filters out more than 95 percent of fine dust and eco-friendly condensing boiler that reduces nitrogen oxides must be installed in the future.

Seoul notified a 'green building design standard' on January 24 that requires the installation of fine dust (molecular diameter: 1.6 to 2.3μm) filtering ventilation devices and eco-friendly boilers that reduce nitrogen oxide by 77% compared to general boilers.

This is to filter out fine dust entering the building and reduce the fine dust produced in the building itself to provide a safe indoor environment for citizens.

The notification will be applied to the building permit application submitted to the city or district office from February 24.

In addition, the design standard was revised to require the installation of solar energy facilities equivalent to 5 percent of the land area in residential buildings with more than 30 households or non-residential buildings with a floor area of 3000㎡ or more.

The green building design standard is applied to new, enlarged, remodeled buildings over 500㎡ of floor area.
