[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Forest Service singed a MOU with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) on January 16 to promote joint forest cooperation in developing countries.

The agreement is designed to facilitate mutual cooperation between the two organizations, including the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN), the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

Under the agreement, the two organizations plan to lay the foundation for a cooperative system for sustainable climate change response through the restoration of forest, and to find a converged model between the Korea Forest Service’s ODA and GGGI projects.

“We plan to improve performance of ODA projects by supporting each other in areas that are mutually strong,” said an official from the Korea Forest Service.
