[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of Environment will hold an '2019 Eco-friendly Vehicle Supply Policy Meeting' on January 18 and introduce policies on supplying environmentally friendly cars and building charging facilities this year.

The Ministry of Environment plans to provide subsidies for 57,000 eco-friendly cars this year, an increase of 76 percent from 32,000 last year.

The subsidy is up to 19 million won for electric cars, 36 million won for hydrogen cars, 5 million won for plug-in hybrid cars, and 3.5 million won for electric motorcycles.

The Ministry of Environment plans to build 1,200 electric car fast chargers and 46 hydrogen charging stations this year in order to provide a convenient charging environment for eco-friendly car users.

The Ministry of Environment also plans to improve the problems that have been raised regarding the eco-friendly vehicle supply project. A person who purchases a vehicle after receiving the subsidy cannot receive the subsidy if he or she purchases an additional electric vehicle within two years or if the research institution purchases a vehicle for research purposes.
