[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea National Park Service said that it will designate a total of nine places, including one of the Odaesan National Park, one of the Deogyusan National Park, one of the Sobaeksan National Park, one of the Byeonsanbando National Park, and five of the Dadohaehaesang National Park, as the ‘National Park Special Protection Zone’ from July of this year to 2037.

The nine newly designated National Park Special Protection Zones have a total area of ​​8.7㎢.

The Special Protection Zone was introduced in 2007 to strictly restrict human access to protect natural ecosystems and natural landscapes such as endangered wildlife habitats.

The Korea National Park Service has designated and managed a total of 207 Special Protection Zones in 21 national parks nationwide, including the nine newly designated ones.

The Natural Parks Act imposes fines of up to 500,000 won if a person is caught illegally entering a Special Protection Zone.
