Eight new cars manufactured and sold last year meet standards for indoor air quality'국내 모든 신차 실내 공기질 합격점'

[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that eight new cars manufactured and sold in Korea over the past year met all standards for indoor air quality management.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has evaluated and managed the indoor air quality since 2011 to reduce the harmful substances generated from the materials and adhesives used for indoor interior materials of new cars.

Kia Motors' K3, K9 and Stonic, Hyundai's Veloster, Santa Fe and G70, Renault Samsung's QM6, and Korea GM’s Malibu were measured on whether they met the recommended criteria for seven substances including formaldehyde and toluene.

From 2019, the government plans to strengthen evaluation methods and materials to investigate the indoor air quality in the same manner as the international standards established recently (2017.11).

A new harmful substance (acetaldehyde) will be added to the existing seven evaluation substances and measurement methods will be strengthened.
