[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Water Resources Corporation announced that it signed a 'Smart Urban Flood Management Technology Cooperation Agreement' with the Seoul Government on November 22.

The smart urban flood management technology of the Korea Water Resources Corporation is a technology to cope with unexpected urban flood by linking rainfall information acquired by high - precision rainfall observation technology to the sewage system, which is drainage system of city.

Based on the agreement, the Korea Water Resources Corporation plans to use the 'high-precision rainfall observation technology' to predict the heavy rain from 3 hours to 6 hours before, and to analyze the flood vulnerable areas in the city and share the information with the city every 10 minutes.

The Korea Water Resources Corporation expects the agreement to help the government build a preemptive and effective national disaster management system.

“With changes in weather conditions, urban flood management will become more important in the future,” said the CEO of the Korea Water Resources Corporation. “We will expand cooperation with local governments to realize social values through the establishment of a preventive disaster management system.”
