‘The 2nd Regional Workshop on Impact-based Forecasts in Asia’ held from November 19 to 21'기상재해 예방 전문가 토론회 개최'

[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Meteorological Administration and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) are holding ‘The 2nd Regional Workshop on Impact-based Forecasts in Asia’ from November 19 to 21.

It was designed to share experiences and technologies on impact forecasts in line with global weather trends.

For the event, 31 officials from 20 countries in Asia, Europe and North America and experts from the WMO Secretariat and UN ESCAP, and about 70 experts from Korea attended.

The WMO recognizes that the Impact-based weather forecasts have a great effect on reducing meteorological disasters and is urging international cooperation to achieve this.

“In order to effectively respond to weather disasters, international cooperation is essential,” said Kim Jong-seok, Administrator of the Korea Meteorological Administration. “I hope this event will make Asia a model for leading the global impact forecast.”
