[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Climate Center conducted a climate information production training program, ‘User-oriented Statistical Downscaling of Climate Change Scenario for Agriculture and Water Resources’, for the APEC members from October 15 to 20.

The program was designed to enable the users of climate information in APEC member countries to produce and use climate information that reflects their regional characteristics by using climate information and statistical detail techniques.

Eighteen working-level officials from 10 APEC member countries, including Taiwan, Malaysia, Mexico, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, Chile, Thailand, Peru and the Philippines, attended the training to establish strategies for adapting and responding to climate change.

By acquiring statistical downscaling and climate information, APEC members who participated in the training will be able to produce climate change scenarios that reflect regional characteristics by linking them with weather observation data from each country.
