Korea National Arboretum to hold a ‘Workshop for Rare Plant Re-introduction’'국립수목원, 희귀식물 복원 가이드라인 워크숍 개최'

[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea National Arboretum of the Korea Forest Service will hold a practical workshop on the restoration (re-introduction) of rare plants in order to lead the stable preservation activities of rare plants for three days starting from September 5.

As part of the National Arboretum’s capacity building program for Asia's Rare Plant Conservation for biodiversity conservation, the workshop aims to enhance the capacity of Asian plant conservation practitioners to achieve the goal of the Convention on Biological Diversity's Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC) 2020.

60 experts from domestic institutions and forest experts from four Central Asian countries will attend the workshop. In particular, experts from the Center for Plant Conservation and the Missouri Botanical Garden will attend to share their experiences and know-how in related fields and discuss various measures for restoration (re-introduction) of rare plants in Asia.

Regarding the working-level workshop, Lee You-mi, Director General of the National Arboretum, said, "It will greatly contribute to the revitalization of Asia's rare plant restoration research area, and this will be a valuable opportunity for those working in the field."
