[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that it held the 11th Korea-China Earthquake Science and Technology Cooperation Meeting on July 6, inviting China Earthquake Agency.
In this meeting, ways to cooperate between Korea and China to prevent massive earthquakes on the Korean Peninsula and volcanic disasters arising from the explosion of Mountain Baekdu were discussed.
The main agendas of the meeting include ▷ cooperation to improve quality control of seismic observation data ▷ Collaboration to improve seismic early warning analysis technology ▷ Expansion of earthquake data sharing for earthquake and tsunami monitoring ▷ Joint research of Volcano activity of Baekdu Mountain.
“We expect that the Korea-China Earthquake Science and Technology Cooperation Meeting will greatly contribute to the improvement of the earthquake and volcanic countermeasures system in the two countries,” said Administrator of Korea Meteorological Administration. “Through continuous earthquake information and technology exchange with China, we will strengthen monitoring capacity of earthquakes around the Korean peninsula and volcanoes of Baekdu Mountain.”
