[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of Environment said that it will expand the project to support 'liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vehicles for children's schooling' to protect children's health from fine dust.

Starting from July last year, this project, which started with 800 vehicles in Seoul, has increased to 1,800 units this year and its scope has expanded nationwide.

The Ministry of Environment is supporting 5 million won per vehicle when an old diesel school bus that was registered before 2009 is converted into new LPG car of 15 seats or less.

As of May 2017, kinds of fuels for about 80,000 vehicles have been confirmed among 89,000 school buses. Of these, 97 percent, or 78,000 vehicles, are diesel vehicles. Of these, more than half of the vehicles are old cars more than 10 years old.
