[The Hwankyung Ilbo] All vehicles in production or in operation will be classified into five classes according to the amount of air pollutant emissions.

The Ministry of Environment has newly established a rating rule that reflects the absolute difference in the amount of emissions of air pollutants depending on the type of vehicle, so that the five-level regulations can be used as an indicator of restrictions on vehicles with heavy emissions of air pollutants.

According to the revised regulations, electric cars and hydrogen cars that do not emit air pollutants are given grade 1, hybrid cars are given grade 1 to 3, gasoline and gas cars are given grade 1 to 5, and diesel cars are given grade 3 to 5.

This rating calculation regulation does not require a separate calculation procedure and is graded according to the criteria applied at the time of certification.

"The regulations on the calculation of this grade do not directly lead to the restriction of the vehicle operation, but the revision was prepared in order to lead the purchase of vehicles with high grade,” said an official of the Ministry of Environment.
