[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that it will shorten the radar observation interval and raise processing speed.

The weather radar is state-of-the-art weather observation equipment that detects the position, intensity, and moving speed of precipitation phenomena such as rain, snow, and hail after receiving and analyzing signals that are scattered from precipitation particles by emitting radio waves in the atmosphere.

The Meteorological Administration explained that they will get more information by shortening the observation interval from every 10 minutes to 5 minutes and data processing process from 15 minutes to 3 minutes.

"We hope that all citizens will be able to protect their lives and property by preparing for the dangerous weather that is changing every moment through faster high-quality weather radar observations," said Jae-chul Nam, Administrator of the Meteorological Administration.
