Seoul to launch ‘SUM Seoul Project’ for air quality management'서울시, 간이측정 활용한 미세먼지 감시망 구축'

[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Seoul Metropolitan Government will set up fine dust measuring devices throughout Seoul by next year to establish a tighter fine dust monitoring network using them.

The government plans to strengthen the management of fine dust emission sources by installing simplified measuring devices around living areas used by vulnerable people such as schools and air pollutant sources such as construction sites.

The Seoul Research Institute of Public Health and Environment said that the new ‘SUM (Smart Urban air quality Management) SEOUL project’ will be launched in 2020.

Currently, Seoul measures air quality information at a total of 50 locations, including 25 municipal air monitoring stations.

Once simplified measuring devices are installed throughout Seoul, more detailed fine dust concentration information will be provided for citizens.

It will also develop an application that recommends moving paths that minimize exposure to fine dust by utilizing data on fine dust concentration measured by simplified measuring devices.
