15 billion won of special grants to be provided to prevent the spread of ASF'아프리카돼지열병 특교세 150억원 추가 지원'

[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will provide 15 billion won of special grants to 16 cities and provinces except Seoul, with the expansion of Africa's swine fever (ASF) key management area and the installation and operation of quarantine facilities nationwide.

The special tax support was decided by comprehensively considering the costs of installing and operating prevention facilities, such as base sterilization facilities and farm guard posts, and the costs necessary for epidemiological investigation to prevent the spread of ASF.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs are strengthening their support at the central government level and listening to difficulties and suggestions at the site through frequent meetings with the regional task force to come up with solutions in consultation with related ministries and agencies.

“We deeply appreciate the efforts of local governments and pig farmers who are doing their best to prevent the spread of the swine fever in Africa,” said Minister of the Interior and Safety Chin Young. “The government will also mobilize all its capabilities and expand administrative and financial support so that quarantine activities can be carried out thoroughly and swiftly.”
