Outbreak of African swine fever confirmed'치사율 100%, 아프리카돼지열병 국내 발병'

[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The African swine fever, which has a fatality rate of 100 percent, has finally been confirmed in Korea. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said the outbreak of African swine fever in South Korea was officially confirmed at 6:30 a.m. on September 17.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs imposed emergency quarantine measures on the affected farms immediately after receiving reports of suspected outbreaks of African swine fever.

An initial quarantine team has been deployed to control the access of farm owners, livestock, vehicles and outsiders to the reported farms.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs upgraded the crisis alert level for African swine fever to the highest level of "severe" immediately after it was confirmed to be positive for African swine fever.

The government will also strengthen management of the major spreading factors for African swine fever.

It plans to ban all remaining food from being brought into farms and carry out control of the wild boar populations in 14 cities and counties near the border in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and other related ministries.
